Early Bird Competition:
Sign your children up for September’s sessions before the end of the summer holidays and be entered into our free prize draw to win a Sense Party worth £165! Online booking is now open here: www.sensetheatre.co.uk/book-online
Traffic Light System:
In September we will be trialling a new reward programme for the children; ‘The Traffic Light System.’ Every child will start on the red traffic light, their challenge is to collect 15 stickers, once they have collected 15 stickers they will get a prize and move up to the yellow traffic light, then on achieving 15 stickers on the yellow traffic light they can progress to the green one, the prizes will get bigger and better with each traffic light! Gaining stickers is easy- every child gets a sticker at the end of class and each week extra stickers will be awarded to children for good behaviour, great performances and overall effort. Prizes will be easily achievable and we hope that the traffic light system will be a fun way to encourage great behaviour and participation.
The Good Toy Guide:
We have been lucky enough to have been selected as a partner with The Good Toy Guide and will be testing toys which have a ‘drama-ry’ twist. Every child’s dream job is as a toy tester so we jumped at the chance when approached by this fantastic company. All of our teachers trained over the summer with ‘The GTG’ on how to evaluate how successful the toys relate to drama and imaginative play. Toys we are expecting to test include storytelling cubes to encourage imaginative story building which we can then transfer into scenes, puppets, role play equipment etc, all will be age specific. It’s a great opportunity for the children and best of all they won’t even know their testing! The most fantastic thing is that after we’ve finished the testing we get to keep the toys, these will either be used in future sessions or we will enter all children’s names into a draw and the lucky names drawn out will get to keep the toys! www.goodtoyguide.com
Our theme for this term is Peter Pan, all children will have the chance to perform in a Peter Pan performance at the end of term (with the exception of The Hythe school who trialled this project last term and will therefore do something different).
Sense Theatre Awards:
All children will be offered the opportunity to complete their Sense Theatre awards. The Awards will be similar to a drama exam, whereby the children will go along with a prepared poem or piece which they have worked on at home and upon finishing their ‘exam’ they will be awarded a certificate the following week. The idea of doing our own awards is so that they can be entirely towards the children building their confidence alongside their performance skills and therefore everyone is guaranteed to pass, will receive their certificate and can then move to the next level. The pieces/ poems and the levels of the awards will be dependent on the age of the children. They will do their awards in front of their Sense teacher to make them super comfortable and to ensure that it is a fun experience. More info to follow shortly.
We are excited to welcome Isabelle Winter to the team as a permanent member of office staff. Issy will be going around all of the schools to introduce herself and will soon become a key player in the day to day running of Sense Theatre. Issy will be sending out weekly emails of what the children have been up to in sessions, so expect to hear a lot from Issy in the future!
