Arts Award is a nationally recognised, accredited qualification and Sense Theatre is a registered Arts Award Centre which allows us to deliver all of the Arts Award programmes.
There are five different levels of Arts Award:
Discover: For ages 7+. This award is all about taking part in different arts activities and discovering all of the arts around you.
Explore: For ages 7+. Find out what inspires you, about artistes and arts organisations and create your own work.
Bronze: For ages 11+. Attend events, research your arts heroes, share your arts experiences and achieve a level 1 qualification.
Silver: For ages 11+. Develop your arts skills, lead activities in any arts form and achieve a level 2 qualification.
Gold: For ages 11+. Gold is the highest recognition of your abilities as an arts leader. At gold level you will work as an arts practitioner while broadening your horizons within the arts world and earn a level 3 qualification. Gold Arts Award is worth 35 UCAS points.
Sense Theatre is registered to deliver all of the above qualifications and our arts practitioners are trained to deliver the programme. For more information on Arts Award visit the Arts Award Website.
Is your school applying for the Arts Mark or already got the Arts Mark?
From September 2012 all schools applying for the Arts Mark or already holding the Arts mark must explore offering the Arts Award within their school.
Sense Theatre has a number of practitioners who are trained to deliver the Arts Award programme who can come into your school and inspire your pupils to get involved in the arts and to complete their Arts Award.
Sense Theatre can introduce the Arts Award Discover and Explore programmes into your school in a number of ways.
Through our PPA sessions when teachers have their timetabled PPA sessions our Arts Award trained practitioners can come in and deliver the Arts Award programme during school time. Giving pupils the chance to gain a recognised qualification, take an active interest in the arts and have a great time. Furthermore, to ensure that there is no extra work for teachers or school staff Sense Theatre will deal with all of the marking and paperwork involved in the children passing their Arts Award.

Weekly Timetabled Arts Award Sessions:
Through weekly Arts Award sessions with the class teacher and one of our Arts Award practitioners to integrate the Arts Award into the school timetable. One of our Sense Theatre arts practitioners will work alongside the class teacher to help the children achieve their Arts Award. Sense Theatre will also take care of all of the marking of the children’s arts logs and with issuing the children’s certificates.
Arts Award Sessions for Gifted and Talented Children:
We can organise to run the Arts Award with children who are recognised for their exceptional achievements on the gifted and talented register. Having Sense Theatre practitioners deliver the Arts Award programme the children can be stretched and challenged in a new and exciting way!
After School Clubs:
Why not start a Sense Theatre after school club at your school. Sense Theatre after school clubs specialise in using drama along with singing, dancing, puppetry and circus skills to increase children’s confidence, self esteem and team work skills. And best of all there is no cost whatsoever to the school!

Many secondary schools offer their students the opportunity to complete their Duke of Edinburgh Awards. Arts Award Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards are just as valuable as their Duke of Edinburgh counterparts but without the long trek in the rain! Sense Theatre can deliver the Arts Award programme to your students in a number of ways.
With Gifted and Talented Students:
We can accelerate your Gifted and Talented students through the programme starting them with the appropriate level for their ability.
Pre- NEET Students:
Arts Award is a nationally recognised qualification on the qualification framework, the benefit of Arts Award for pre- NEET students is that there are no exams and all coursework can be completed in class times. Furthermore the arts can engage and attract even the most disengaged young people. Many pupils don’t realise that activities which they deem ‘cool’ such as rapping are art forms which can be explored through the Arts Award.
Arts Award After School Club:
Sense Theatre will arrange for one of our arts practitioners to come into your school to deliver the Arts Award programme. This would be offered as an extra-curricular activity at no cost to the school and better still Sense Theatre will deal with all of the marketing the opportunity to do the Arts Award club from an assembly informing the pupils about the Arts Award to sending letters home to parents.
Does your child already attend a Sense Theatre after school club or are you thinking on sending your child to one? From September 2012 all children over the age of 7 will be offered the chance to complete their Arts Award.
